Busybodies - a work in progess

My nephew and his wife recently had twin girls and I have been intending to paint a small painting for each of the infants.  I decided upon these geese which stormed up to me one day when I was travelling between Sydney and Brisbane with David, my husband.  We had stopped for a driving break and I wanted to take a photograph of some ducks on a lagoon.  I had no sooner got my camera out when this trio, followed by a whole gaggle, marched up looking very territorial.  I forgot about photographing the ducks!
For the second painting I intend to paint a couple of young, dewey goslings.....just so sweet!
Am not certain I have finished this painting.  Will look at it for a couple of days.

For Tina.....

This little, battered teapot stands on a brass stand.  It belonged to an elderly aunt, Aunty Mollie, who died about 15 years ago.  My daughter has the teapot now.  I have painted it for my niece, Tina.  I promised her a painting for her kitchen and I thought this together with the ealier painting 'Kitchen Things' would be a cheerful combination for her kitchen wall.

An Easter Guest.....

My two little grandchildren, Emilie and Sammy, visited and stayed the night on Good Friday.  On Easter Sunday, a very kind and quirky neighbour visited dressed up in bunny gear to give them easter eggs and a little gift each.  Unfortunately, Emmy and Sammy had left the previous evening......they would have loved it.

Two days riper..............

These are the same pears that I painted some days ago.  I don't think the composition is as good as the previous painting.
I actually received a Commendation for the earlier painting at an Easter Art Show held by Yurara Art Society.  I am a member, in fact president at present, of the society which has premises in the Redland Bay region south-east of Brisbane.  There were some very interesting works exhbited.
Have been hoping to upload more frequently but have been busy over Easter.  I should have a bit more time when the holiday period is finished.

A Happy Pair ........................................... SOLD

I have missed the stone fruit season in Australia this year.  There are a few plums in the fruit shop but the apricots and nectarines have disappeared.  I would like to start a series of fruit and will once I have a selection prepared to model for me!

Not my last apples.......................................SOLD

I have had a very productive weekend despite being fairly busy with other commitments.  Have painted 3 small paintings and (unusually) I am pleased with all of them.  Sometimes they seem to fall onto the canvas.....at other times it's all labour.  I hope you enjoy them too.

Daisies

Oh dear, this is harder than you think.  I have so much to learn.  Those mid-tones are very elusive and I wind up labouring over lights and darks without the in-betweens.  Tomorrow is another day.......

Easy to see through....

I visited my daughter in Sydney recently and 'borrowed' the tiny turquoise glass pot from her.  Such a lovelyshade.  Am not really satisfied with the painting of it this time.  But then there is always next time!

And another - expect to see more of this pepper-pot.

This is the second of, I hope, many small paintings that I will undertake and then post on this site.  Am taking a leaf out of the 'Painting a Day' group in America.  I have paid particular attention to Carol Marine, a young artist and mother, with huge energy and a lovely spontaneity about her works.

My first post - Coochiemudlo Island, where I live SOLD

Setting Up

This is purely experimental.  Can't imagine that I will ever get this blog going.  Have been at it for hours and have achieved very little.  Had hoped to post my first painting....perhaps another time.
